Shek Hei (“Haynes”) Yuan was conducting an experiment in a CancerCare analysis lab when he discovered from an electronic mail that he’d been accepted into dental faculty.
“I screamed so loud that my colleagues got here and banged on my door and mentioned, ‘Hey, are you OK?’” he remembers. “Then I needed to wait one other 5 – 6 hours to name my dad and mom as a result of it was late at evening in Hong Kong.”
For Yuan, 28, beginning a brand new journey as a first-year UM dental scholar caps off a decade of perseverance. Raised in Hong Kong, he got here to Canada alone at age 18 as a global scholar.
