After two lengthy days of operating on asphalt, I used to be relieved to see the beginning of a path that I used to be going to take. The B7078 winds its means via southern Scotland, criss-crossing the M74 every so often. I walked down the stony path and smiled to myself. Nothing like this sense of being alone on a path, operating at your personal tempo, having fun with nature. After 33km that day, I nonetheless had 7km to run on this path, then 7km on the highway to my campsite. Life was good.
The trail was broad and cozy for operating. To my proper was a forest of dense timber and to my left had been small mounds of grass, with occasional clearings the place you would pitch a tent in the event you wanted to.
